About Me
Like most editors, I’m a lifelong bookworm. I obtained a BA in English and then an MEd in teaching English.
While I initially thought that teaching would be my career path, I soon realized that my passion lay elsewhere. I joined a small company in Washington, DC, that helped large publishers develop high school textbooks. I was part of the fact-checking team, and I scoured the shelves at the public library for three print sources that verified each fact (obviously, this was pre-internet).
I then worked as a proofreader and editor for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Ann Arbor, MI, and as a staff editor/writer at HighScope Educational Research Foundation in Ypsilanti, MI, before starting my career as a freelance editor in Ann Arbor.
I am a lifelong learner and stay up to date with the latest trends and tools by actively participating in continuing education programs offered by ACES: The Society for Editing and the Editorial Freelancers Association.
In my spare time, I like to:
Cook, bake, and collect cookbooks
Hike
Walk my dog
Practice yoga
Attempt to knit (haven’t moved past the scarf phase yet)
